Bents Green’s Story

Bents Green is a quiet area on the edge of Sheffield, best known for its friendly community and easy access to the Peak District. At its heart is Bents Green House, a historic listed building dating back to the early 1800s, alongside local staples like the Hammer & Pincers pub. The place carries a steady, welcoming atmosphere, with Bents Green School providing specialist education and the countryside just a short walk away. It’s where city life blends naturally with open green space, making it a valued corner of Sheffield.

How Bents Green Became a Local Centre

Bents Green began developing local shops in the early 1900s, starting with the Hammer & Pincers pub and smithy in 1904. The 1920s brought more properties like Latham Square, and in 1916 the Co-operative Society opened a store, shaping the area’s early commercial and community life.
